Getting started
Activate your license
Turn on Pro with your license key, and move it to another Mac.
Activating your license turns on Roomy Pro, which removes the 500 MB cleaning limit. One license works on up to 3 Macs, and you can move it between Macs whenever you like.
Where to find your license key
Your key looks like ROOMY-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX. You can find it:
- on the page you see straight after checkout;
- in the email we send you after checkout, to the address you bought with;
- on your account page. Sign in with your email and password. The first time, we email you a one-time sign-in link and you choose a password.
Option 1: Open in Roomy (easiest)
- Install Roomy first if you haven't yet. See Install Roomy.
- On the page after checkout, click Open in Roomy.
- If your browser asks whether to open Roomy, click Open or Allow.
- Roomy activates your key by itself. The sidebar now shows your plan with Unlimited cleaning.
Option 2: Paste your key into the app
- Copy your license key.
- In Roomy, click Plans & Pricing in the sidebar (under Account) and scroll to Already bought it? Enter your license key. Or choose Roomy → Settings… (⌘ ,) and click the License tab.
- Paste the key and click Activate.
Roomy needs an internet connection to activate. After that it checks your license about once a day and keeps working offline for up to 21 days between checks.
Move your license to another Mac
Your license can be active on 3 Macs at a time. To use it on a new Mac when all slots are taken, deactivate one first:
- On the Mac you're leaving: open Settings → License and click Deactivate This Mac.
- If you no longer have that Mac: sign in to your account page and deactivate it from your list of Macs.
Then activate on the new Mac as above. Deactivating doesn't delete any files and doesn't cancel your subscription.
Tips
- Keys aren't case-sensitive, and spaces at the start or end are ignored.
- Keys never contain the letters I, L, O or U, so a character that looks like an O is a zero (0).
- Your Macs are listed on the account page by name, for example "Jane's MacBook Pro".
If that didn't work
- "We couldn't find that license key": check for typos, especially 0 (zero) versus O, or copy and paste the key from your email.
- Device limit reached: your license is already active on 3 Macs. Deactivate one as described above.
- "This license isn't active": the subscription has ended, a payment failed, or the purchase was refunded. Check your plan on the Billing tab of your account page.
- "Couldn't reach the license server": check your internet connection, and try again with any VPN, firewall or network filter paused or allowing Roomy.
More fixes are in Troubleshooting, or email [email protected] with your license key.
