The first public release of Roomy, a Mac cleaner that explains every item and removes only what you approve.
Clean up
- System Junk: app and browser caches (including sandboxed apps’ caches with Full Disk Access), logs, crash reports, temporary files older than three days and saved window state.
- User Files: the Trash, old downloads, installers (.dmg, .pkg, .xip), Mail attachment copies, iPhone and iPad backups and old device firmware. Never preselected.
- Developer: Xcode DerivedData, device support, archives, SwiftUI previews and simulator caches, plus npm, Yarn, pnpm, Bun, Deno, Homebrew, pip, Poetry, uv, CocoaPods, Carthage, SwiftPM, Gradle, Maven, Cargo, Go, JetBrains, VS Code and Cursor caches.
Manage
- Apps: an uninstaller that also removes caches, logs and background helpers, with app data kept unless you choose otherwise. Last-opened dates and an Unused filter.
- Duplicates: files matched by content (size, first and last 64 KB, then SHA-256). Hard links are ignored and the oldest copy is kept.
- Large Files: the biggest files in your home folder, with a minimum size from 50 MB to 1 GB.
Tools
- Optimize: free up memory, flush DNS, rebuild Launch Services, thin Time Machine snapshots, delete unavailable simulators and reindex Spotlight.
- Launch agents: a list of background helpers with broken ones flagged.
- Activity Log of every clean, and exclusions for files and folders you never want cleaned.
Safety
- Safe, Review and Caution ratings on every item, with what is removed and what stays.
- Only rebuildable data is ever preselected. Anything that isn’t a cache needs an extra confirmation.
- Every path is checked again right before removal; protected locations are always skipped.
- Personal files, backups and uninstalled apps go to the Trash first.
